I love my work!  I have been working one-on-one massaging people since 1996.  I have taught yoga classes, presented to groups (high school classrooms, church groups, athletes, etc..), have supported pro athletes, and weekend warriors.  In all the years of this work, I have made close connections with my clientele and helped them find more comfort, joy, awareness, function, courage, and ease in their lives.  What a gift!

I was born and raised in Durham, North Carolina where I attended Carolina Friends School (CFS) K-12. I did my undergraduate studies at the College of the Atlantic (COA) in Bar Harbor, Maine, majoring in Human Ecology. In 1996 I began my training in therapeutic massage at the Body Therapy Institute (BTI) in Silk Hope, NC. The comprehensive and creative approach to massage and bodywork that BTI’s curriculum offered was perfect for my broad educational foundation which had included centering spiritual practices, yoga, martial arts, music, and modern dance. This combination gave me many tools to shape a very dynamic therapeutic practice.

After working on triathletes for a number of years, I “caught the bug” and began racing in 2009.  For me, the sport provides a direct connection to joy and fulfillment and serves to help me keep fit and healthy for my busy massage practice.  I have sponsored a professional triathlete and an elite team for several years.

My primary goal with athletes is to help them enjoy their sport by enhancing performance and decreasing injuries.  I am slowly beginning to grow a coaching business for beginning athletes as well.  I found that working with a coach was key for my growth as a beginner, and I would love to be able to share that gift with others.
